As a Service Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the after-sales and service team by providing top-notch customer service, product knowledge, and technical expertise. Youll work closely with their South African and German service teams, showcasing your ability to work independently, identify technical issues, and deliver positive solutions. This role involves travel to customer sites, attending shutdowns, preparing travel plans, and conducting in-house repairs and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly, dismantling, repair, and maintenance of mechanical seals in the workshop and customer sites.
- Create detailed mechanical seal failure reports.
- Install, commission, and maintain agitators and systems.
- Collaborate with the service teams in South Africa and Internationally.
- Conduct quality checks on assemblies and mechanical seals.
- Generate coherent visit and service reports.
- Ensure timely processing of call-out orders with signed time sheets and work orders.
- Address technical issues on customer sites, inquire about operational spares, and maintain constant communication.
- Build and maintain relationships with customers, understanding their requirements.
- Support after-sales and service to meet business objectives and customer needs.
- Efficiently manage inventory and replenish used or sold spare parts.
- Maintain accurate records in company databases, including Smart Business Client (SBC).
- Read, check, and interpret technical drawings.
Key Skills Required
- Minimum N6 or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2-3 years of experience in rotating equipment such as agitators, pumps, and gearboxes and mechanical seals.
- Proficiency in technical drawing interpretation.
- Previous experience as a fitter or technician.
- Proficient in Excel and MS Office applications.
- Background knowledge of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS).
- Attention to detail, professional attitude, and reliability.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid drivers license.
