Lancet Laboratories is inviting applications for a Medical Scientist position to join the dynamic Specialty Molecular Division, including the Oncogenetics team. This team provides comprehensive molecular testing for oncology patients and plays a pivotal role in supporting molecular test development and the processing of clinical trial protocols for the African market.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled professional who is a team player, committed to training and developing junior staff, and meets the following minimum requirements and duties.
Requirements:
- HPCSA registration as a Medical Biological Scientist is essential.
- Specialisation in Molecular Biology or Human Genetics is advantageous.
- A minimum of BSc Honours or BSc Masters degree in a relevant field.
- At least 2 years of post-internship experience in a laboratory setting.
- Experience in a SANAS-accredited laboratory is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows.
- Experience with PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) and Sanger sequencing techniques.
- Participate in the development and validation of new diagnostic methodologies.
- Verify and optimise existing molecular testing methods.
- Conduct training for junior staff members, providing support and mentorship.
- Adhere to quality management systems and assist with quality assurance tasks.
- Ensure the implementation and maintenance of molecular testing protocols that meet clinical trial and patient care standards.
