Brand Manager South Africa

The primary function of this role will be to build and implement (via local team) brand plans to engage with South African consumers in line with brand DNAs and guidelines, working closely with the SA Market Manager.

The role will form the first point of contact with the in-market brand team, acting as the initial filter to ensure local market creative and content aligns with MH maison strategy and execution guidelines.

The position reports to the Market Director
  • Work with Distributor team to establish next years brand plans and ensure quarterly plans are then executed to drive brand performance in the all-important SA market
  • Driving the correct project planning processes and following up with BMs to ensure timings are adhered to, reducing stress in the system
  • Press Release and SM content calendar reviews and pre-approval before final sign off from MM or GM
  • Provides local teams with the set of tools and executions to drive commercial and brand equity results
  • Event and activation execution review ensuring brand cohesion and consistency and Activation excellence
  • Collating, reviewing and analysing marketing results to drive a mind-set of continuous improvement from a fact-based basis (and supplying Best Practice excellence to the region and Maisons)
  • Being clear on implications of annual BHT and other marketing research results to ensure brand plans reflect critical insights
  • Tracking competitive activity and performance in the market-place
  • Taking a lead / pro-actively pushing and creating initiatives on some of the smaller brands (eg Ardbeg, Belvedere, DP, Ruinart, Krug, Wines)
  • Handling all MH platform queries: guidelines, artwork, issues, etc.
  • Support on day-to-day marketing topics liaising with Distributor brand managers across the portfolio.
  • Formatting and editing of presentations and reports to ensure they meet MH standards
  • Development and formatting of market visit agendas and ensuring all logistical requirements are handled before and during the visit
Education:

Degree in business administration or Marketing

Professional experience:
  • Not less than 4 years in sales, marketing, business development (FMCG)
  • Solid knowledge in financial & administrative processes
  • Ideally experience in W&S industry
  • Some experience with luxury goods
Required skills:
  • Understand marketing mix, from insight analysis and brand building to the role of media, public relations, digital and trade marketing
  • Exceptional Project planning skills
  • Solutions-driven, collaborative attitude and the ability to handle multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to flourish in a high-pressure, deadline-based environment requiring the need to work after hours often over weekends
Languages:

English (2nd South African Language beneficial)
