We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
Job Description
As an MOP Specialist, you will support the Commercial Manager and relevant Heads of departments in implementing the OMS process in Kolomela to create a systematic, consistent and productive management system for Kumba Iron Ore (BU).
This role has accountability for:
- Prepare Monthly Operating Plan (MOP) information and analyses in the required format.
- Provide interface between central Performance management and site MOP specialist.
- Provide an integrated MOP framework for understanding, review and challenge.
- Provide key KPI performance analysis and reporting to stakeholders.
- Highlight key business performance risks, issues and opportunities to management.
- Supply data analyses & insights for discussions with various functional disciplines.
- Advise on cost drivers, analysis, understanding and drive cost control.
- Prepare input to the consolidated Kumba budget and capital plan.
- Assist Principal Monthly Operating Plan in breakdown of financial targets down to site work areas.
- Provide support to the budgeting process on site, challenging budget inputs and supplying analyses.
- Prepare the consolidated monthly MOP forecasting.
- Prepare and collate monthly MPR/QPR information and Kumba templates to Anglo American performance reporting.
- Maintain and execute the JSE controls attestations requirement and related Risk and Control Matrix to ensure compliance for the function.

Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting
- Honours degree in Accounting
- Management Development Programme advantageous
- CIMA or CA Qualification advantageous
- Drivers Licence: Code B (Light vehicle)
- 6-7 years experience in Accounting (Specialising Cost Management, Reporting and budgeting)
- 2 years in Hyperion and IFRS/ ERP (SAP) systems experience at operational level
