Job Description
Our mining client with operations in Africa, is seeking a MRP Controller who will be responsible for developing and planning of material requirements and availability in establishing the Materials Management Infrastructure for the company and control of materials and inventory related items across all sites. This role will be based at their Head Office in Johannesburg and reports directly into the Supply Chain Manager.
Responsibilities
- Develop clearly defined material processes and procedures.
- Efficient transport and control of materials and inventory related items across the operation.
- Maintain and audit material master data for accuracy and alignment with sourcing initiatives.
- Manage relationship between the customer, product demand, production inventory and others.
- Contribute to operations planning processes including demand forecasting, inventory management and cataloguing.
- Running cyclical stock take counts for items in Inventory, whilst also providing reports on inventory for the Inventory Manager and key stakeholders.
- Budget and maintain stock value.
- Optimize, classify and ensure stock value meets the needed availability for clients.
- Ensure technical specifications of the stock is correct.
- Conduct market research to ensure all materials are of high-quality standard.
- Classify the products according to the set categories.
- Forecast trends in product consumption to provide the needed number of stocks and its turnover.
- Evaluate the supplier and manufacturer base on their performance and technical ability.
- Manage and build supplier management and relationships.
- Participate in cost saving initiatives and adhere to financial procedures.
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining and aligning company policies that adhere to local, and Country environmental, health and safety regulations.
- Diploma, Certification or Degree in Supply Chain, Finance or Technical field such as Mining or Engineering.
- At least 5 years experience in a MRP Controller role within mining or technical/industrial industry.
- Experience in logistics, transportation and shipping terms.
- Mechanical Aptitude advantageous.
- Must be able to read drawings, schematics, and understand quality requisitions.
- Must be computer savvy and strong on Excel
- Ability to take over current model and modify themselves
- Self-starter with knowledge of MRP across all mining commodities
