Key Responsibilities

- Create multimedia content for Daily Suns online platform
- Research and develop own news and feature ideas
- Take direction from News Editor
- Supplement written content with mobile video, pictures, and audio interviews as a matter of course
- Deliver target market focused content daily to set deadlines
- Attend daily news meetings
- Regularly produce piece to camera content
- Regularly be in studio for on-camera explainers
- Conceptualise and produce one multi-media feature content every month
- Adhere to quality, style, and content standards
- Understand requirements around paywalled content and deliver accordingly
- Comply with the requirements of the South African Press Code

- Excellent writing skills
- Sound news judgment and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain a strong network of contacts
- Knowledge of mobile video and audio recording
- The ability to take high quality pictures
- A flair for narrative and tabloid style storytelling
- Creativity and a sense of humour
- An understanding of South African media law, ethics, and the Press Code
- The ability to work independently to a high degree of accuracy
- Relevant diploma or degree in journalism or similar
- Drivers license
- At least 2 years experience as a journalist and some experience with shooting video or recording audio
- Knowledge of the online environment
- Strong contact list
- Knowledge of the Daily Sun audience and their interests
- Proficiency in relevant computer packages and applications
