Job Purpose
- To facilitate and assist with the integration of Environmental Risk (i.e. Climate and Nature Risks) into the traditional risk types (i.e., credit risk, operational risk, market risk, business risks etc) and assist the Senior Manager of Climate Risk to ensure the transition across the enterprise.
- Test and provide assurance to compliance with the Climate/Nature Risk Management Framework across the enterprise.
- To actively manage the Climate and Nature-related risks (physical, transition and liability risks) and opportunities across the enterprise by providing effective advice, support, monitoring and oversight within the risk governance framework and processes to embed appropriate alignment to global best practices including, inter alia, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).
- Integrate, evolve, monitor, and report on Climate and Nature Risk Management Framework(s) in respective forums.
- Consult, advise and guide business on integrating Climate and Nature risk into the various impacted risk management processes and frameworks, disclosures, and supporting data and infrastructure.
- Conduct the annual review of Climate and Nature Risk Management Framework(s) and other Group level risk frameworks and policies.
- Understanding of environmental risk and sustainability frameworks
- Understanding of nature risk global frameworks such as theTask Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework.
- Understanding the link between Climate and Nature risks and financial performance.
- Assist with coordinating the revision of relevant Climate risk appetite statements, policies and processes.
- Manage and maintain the monthly Climate Risk Appetite process and evolve the Group Climate Risk Appetite on an annual basis through stakeholder engagement.
- Be the Climate and Nature risk brand ambassador by confidently driving awareness and training on Climate change and Climate and Nature risk management across the enterprise.
- Assist with developing and delivering Climate and Nature-related risk management training and education programs to staff to ensure enhanced knowledge sharing, risk communication and collaboration.
- Keep abreast of domestic and international regulatory and industry trends in Climate change and Climate, Nature, and Environmental Risk management to develop informed strategies to ensure risk management practices appropriately address these trends.
- Identification and assessment of material Climate and Nature-related risks, opportunities and trends across applicable risk types and portfolios and advise management on how to manage these proactively.
- Ability to engage professionally and confidently with a wide variety of stakeholders in the private, public and non-profit sectors, and to build partnerships and manage collaborative initiatives.
- Understanding of responsible investment, including regulatory regimes applicable to the integration of environmental, social and governance factors into investment decision-making; and of the intersection between climate/nature risk and financial markets.
- Documenting and communicating governance associated with Climate and Nature risk management.
- Assist with the coordination of the Sustainability Risk Committee, a Group Executive sub-committee.
- Provide submissions, as required, to the Group Sustainability and Climate Resilience Committee, a Group Board sub- committee.
- Report and present accurate and insightful Climate and Nature risk management information to internal and external stakeholders (i.e. quality reporting)
- Minimum 5 years experience in Risk Management, preferably in Climate/Nature/Environmental/ESG risk in a financial institution
- Extensive experience in risk management practices, with a focus on Climate and Nature-related risk in the financial sector, along with a sound understanding of how financial institutions operate and the key risks they face
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
- Risk Management or equivalent degree
- Sustainability and Climate Risk Certificate (GARP)
