Draughtsman

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Produce quality technical outputs which satisfy all requirements (Clients, Codes and Standards) by adhering to internal engineering processes. The position is a technical role, with interface and liaison with the client and other outside parties.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Liaise with Design Engineers to understand requirements by reading, understanding and applying project specifications.
• Perform plant walk downs for input to designs and as built verification of existing plant and equipment.
• Produce drawings in line with designated timelines ensuring that the drawings are technically correct and in accordance with the appropriate codes and standards:
• Perform detailed 3D modelling of plant and equipment,
• Produce 2D drawings such as piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings, PFDs, P&IDs, section details, etc.
• Assist proposal team with tender preparations.
• Managing the drawing interfaces with all disciplines.
• Technical checks during the fabrication phase of all projects.
• Ensuring compliance to company and project technical and QA requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate should ideally possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Draughting certificate from a recognised technical institution OR N6 certificate,
• 10 years experience in the multi-disciplinary project environment (ideally in the mining and energy industries),
• Experience using point cloud models to develop 3D models within brownfield sites,
• Experience using the Autocad Plant 3D, Inventor and Microstation software packages.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS & QUALITIES

• Proficiency in Autocad Plant 3D, Inventor and Microstation software packages.
• Ability to operate under pressure, must be a fast and accurate worker who is results driven.
• Ability to work independently.
• Problem solving ability.
• Good communication skills.
• Good planning, organizing, administration and time management skills.
• Good people skills, assertiveness, a pro-active disposition.
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including traveling to project sites.
• A very strong team player.
