New Business Development Specialist (Mining)

Responsibilities

A well-established Professional Services Consulting company focused on the engineering mining industry, is looking for a Business Development Specialist to provide a top-quality service to colleagues and clients alike, while maintaining professionalism and living by the companys values. The successful incumbent will be responsible for making project and task specific decisions as delegated by the Manager Business Development, as well as making strategic decisions and tactical plans for allocated resource capacity utilization and development; manage allocated client engagement and project pipeline. The successful applicant will be responsible for:
  • Consulting Services Sales with Technical and or Mining industry skills to create proposals and find solutions to meet client requirements
  • Meet goals and set priorities through excellent organizational skills
  • Research and understand the market and client environment, trends, industry drivers, risks, and opportunities
  • Actively contribute to the formulation of the Customer Value Proposition and client experience
  • Manage value added delivery and business benefit realizations for clients in the market segments
  • Ensure commercial health and profitability on allocated projects
  • Enable account / contract managers to grow relationships with clients in the allocated Market Segment and to cross-sell the companys service offerings
  • Execute Business Development, Marketing and Sales Strategies for the allocated Market Segment
  • Actively pursue opportunities in new segments / new clients
  • Ensure that credible and value-added solutions are crafted for new / existing clients
  • Monitor project teams to ensure contracts are executed as agreed
  • Coordinate with sales and technical teams to develop mutually beneficial proposals
  • Maintain and build trusted relationships with clients (current and new)
  • Continuously stay up to date with new technical/mining industry developments and take personal accountability for personal development
  • Strong focus on producing results
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to conduct presentations at all levels in the organization with and without presentation aids
  • Engage with clients and colleagues in a courteous and professional manner
Requirements:
  • Related Bachelors Degree
  • 6-8+ years experience in target driven external sales of Services in the mining environment
  • Previous experience in consulting environments highly recommended
  • New business development experience in project management advantageous
  • Key account management and an existing client base, or strong network of contacts, will secure success
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Sound organizational and time management skills
  • Driven and passionate about target driven external sales and new business development
  • Strong internal motivation with the ability to work independently, but also an eager team player, collaborating effectively at all levels
  • Must have own reliable transport and valid drivers license
  • Medically fit to visit and work in mining environments
  • Understanding of the mining project value chain
  • Understanding of consulting business practices
  • Experience in technical proposal writing, sales, account management and client business development
  • Ability to travel for client engagements and events.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and efficiency in completing tasks.
  • Entrepreneurial and Commercial Thinking
  • Ability to use initiative and assume responsibility, an innovative and pro-active mindset
  • Organized and structured
