Job Title: New Product Developer

RPO Recruitment's client, in the food manufacturing industry, are seeking a talented and creative New Product Developer to join their team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing innovative and marketable food products that meet the needs and preferences of our target consumers.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and opportunities for new product development
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including research and development, marketing, and production to develop new product concepts
• Create prototypes and conduct taste tests to refine product formulations
• Manage product development timelines and budgets to ensure on-time delivery of new products to market
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to source ingredients and packaging materials for new products
• Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and competitive products to drive innovation and differentiation
• Support marketing efforts with product positioning, messaging, and packaging design

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in food science, nutrition, culinary arts, or a related field
• At least 2-3 years of experience in new product development within the food manufacturing industry
• Strong knowledge of food science, food production processes, and sensory evaluation
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to think creatively and strategically to develop new product concepts that resonate with consumers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and product development software
