Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Provide an innovative, dynamic and collaborative library service to the academic enterprise. Acquire information resources as recommended by the academic community in support of teaching, learning and research.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and process book recommendations
- Monitor the use of credit card
- Follow up on orders not received
- Ensure that SLAs are adhered to
- Facilitate the allocation of funds to faculties
- Process invoices on the library automated system
- Reporting and statistics
- Quality control
- Organise virtual and physical book exhibitions
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12.
- A B.Bibl or B.Inf degree (NQF level 7) or any bachelors degree (NQF Level 7) plus a Post-Graduate Diploma in Library and Information Science.
- LIASA Membership.
- A minimum of 3 years working experience in acquisitions within a library.
- Knowledge of acquisitions module on the library automated system
- Numerical skills
- Computer literacy (MS Office, Emails and Internet)
- Negotiating and ability to resolve problems
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
