Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Involved in teaching and learning (undergraduate and post-graduate programmes); research which fits into the facultys focus areas; post

graduate supervision (where applicable); community service and tasks which relate to all above activities.

  • Teaching and Learning including supervision.
  • Research and Innovation.
  • Academic leadership, management, and administration/ university service.
  • Community and scientific Engagement/ Social responsiveness.
  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
Minimum Requirements
  • An LL D in any field in law or a PhD/DPhil in Law (Associate Professor/Professor).
  • A minimum of eight (8) years experience in academia (Professor).
  • Must have a track record of publication in accredited national or international journals.
  • Applicant must have a proven record of effective post graduate supervision.
  • NRF rated.
Functional / Technical Competencies (Knowledge And Skills)
  • Legal language skills and technical knowledge of functioning in the legal environment and law faculty.
  • Advance computer literacy and knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), as well as email, Internet, and the electronic retrieval of legal sources.
  • Candidates with expertise in procedural law will be considered.
  • Ability to work with students, handling large classes and advance and innovative assessment practices.
  • Knowledge of curriculum design, review and optimisation.
  • Knowledge of research processes and eagerness to conduct research.
  • Involvement in community engagement projects.
Key Behavioural Competencies
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environments of the NWU.
  • Good interpersonal relations for optimal engagement with students and staff at NWU.
  • The ability to work with large groups of people.
  • The ability to accommodate multiculturalism, and diversity.
  • Adaptability and agility
