It is necessary to fill the position to ensure the fluent and effective operation at Dampad. The cook will also be responsible for food preparation for functions.
Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Food preparation
- Preparation of food for dining halls and functions.
- Ensure quality and portion control during the food preparation and the serving process.
- Adhere to health and safety procedures.
- Good communication with colleagues, students, and clients.
- Development of the own person and staying abreast of new technology.
- Perform ad hoc tasks.
- The ability to prepare bulk food in a large catering environment.
- Knowledge of occupational health & safety procedures.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures of large equipment.
- Knowledge regarding quality and portion control.
- Knowledge of the handling and use of equipment in a food service unit.
- The ability to read, understand and implement recipes.
- The ability to lift heavy items.
- The ability to read and write.
- Willingness to work irregular hours.
- Good communication skills and the ability to function under pressure.
- The ability to work as part of a team.
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
- A minimum of one (1) year experience in bulk food preparation in a large catering environment.
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
