Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The candidate is expected to make contributions in the teaching and learning effort of the subject group/ department, school, faculty, and other organisational units or interdisciplinary area within the NWU. The successful candidate must play a role in scholarship of research, community engagement and/or professional activities. The candidate should be registered for a PhD and be active in research and innovation activities.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning:
- Teaching and learning within the subject group.
- Be able to undertake research, attend conferences and work on their doctoral studies.
- Be able to co-supervise honours research projects at least.
- Participate in community engagement projects within the School.
- Be able to assist students with basic inquiries.
- A Masters degree in Public Administration and Management in the specialized area of Public Management and Governance (NQF Level 9).
- A minimum of two (2) years experience in Teaching and Learning of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- A minimum of two (2) years experience in doing research in own studies, producing conference papers and publications as well as MA studies and conference attendance.
- Knowledge of teaching strategies and student support.
- Commitment to the achievement of the strategic objectives of the subject group and the school.
- Excellent analytical abilities and innovative thinking, as well as ability to be self-driven.
- The ability to function well individually and as part of a team.
- Good organising skills, as well as the ability to work at a fast-moving pace and comply with stringent deadlines.
- Ability to use online or virtual teaching and learning platforms.
- The use of video, recording and sharing tools such as PANOPTO as used in a distance learning environment is required.
- Supervision for honours research to completion.
- Candidates are expected to teach across various subject groups within the school.
- Advanced administrative skills and Behavioural Competencies.
- Professional conduct at all time.
- Be able to adhere to the NWU vision, mission and values.
- A high level of professional and ethical conduct
