Job Description
As the Head of Platform Engineering, you will lead DevOps Engineers and Site Reliability Engineers in all aspects of enabling our wider engineering community to deliver quality code to production quickly and play a critical role in continuously enhancing the environment to keep it stable and progressive.
You and your team will remove the obstacles that slow engineers down. This will include optimising and improving CI/CD, focusing on infrastructure as code, increasing the quality and accessibility of metrics, and enhancing our build, test, and deploy pipelines.
You will be responsible for contributing to the overall Technology Strategy, leading, and mentoring your direct report team, and enabling the organization to push innovative features into production on a regular and frequent basis while maintaining high levels of quality and security.
KEY RESULTS AREAS
- Creating and implement a DevOps & SRE strategy, involving the creation of roadmap, introduction of processes, metrics, and systems to ensure success of the function.
- Maintain and improve AWS cloud infrastructure and other tools in the environment.
- Designing and implementing code pipelines for continuous deployments.
- Lead a team of DevOps engineers and SREs. Responsible for hiring, personal development, progression, and performance. This could also be an augmented staff compliment from other partners
- Build and maintain a core set of metrics that allow the business to understand the state of the infrastructure and platform performance.
- Implement cost controls and optimising cloud spend and budgets.
- Designing and implementing solutions which have high availability and are scalable.
- Interface between Partners, Technology counterparts, Product squads and Cloud Infrastructure teams.
- Maintain third party relationships with suppliers of products and services.
- Balance strong approach to security and governance with continuous feature delivery.
- Review practices to maintain consistence while staying up to date with latest industry trends.
- Support lean and agile practices that focus on delivering change little and often.

- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a Related Field
- At least 5-8 years of platform engineering experience is required in a Cloud environment. AWS Cloud skills are preferred.
- A successful track record working as an engineering leader across multiple teams in a Financial Services Environment or Fintech.
- Strong experience working with SaaS Platforms, API & Microservices driven environments
- Strong experience managing complex build and run SaaS environments.
- Comfortable working in a highly regulated environment
- Good understanding of Automation, Quality Engineering & and AWS services & frameworks
- Strong understanding of security
- Strong working knowledge of Agile environments
- Good understanding of App Dev lifecycle and the embedment of engineering practices
