Job Description

This role is responsible for implementing humanitarian strategy and initiatives by collaborating with key partners and stakeholders.

Key Result Areas:

Strategic delivery
  • Execute the OM Foundations communication plan and roll-out
  • Executes the Stakeholder Engagement Plan
Operational Delivery
  • Implements, through partners, humanitarian, and disaster support initiatives to aid people affected by crisis/pandemic/emergency
  • Collaborates with Humanitarian & Disaster Support related Strategic Partnerships and Stakeholders according to agreed process and standards
  • Provide support to OML entities in the execution of their humanitarian or and disaster support initiatives
Relationship Management
  • Engage with partners and stakeholders to support the delivery of initiatives
  • Contributes to feedback on current and possible partnerships to support the OML Foundation efforts
  • Represent OML at assigned events
Project Administration and Research
  • Provides effective project management support to deliver the Old Mutual Foundations Humanitarian SI Programme
  • Report on projects to enable effective monitoring and evaluation of these projects. Support the team in the participate in OMLs Africa Social Responsibility Forum
  • Stays abreast of relevant research
Provide governance
  • Provide support in the alignment of projects to meet the OML humanitarian and disaster support standards
  • Collate information to provide feedback and input on H&D initiatives
People
  • Accountable for service delivery through own efforts

  • Individually accountable for managing own time, tasks, and output quality over periods of up to a year
Finance and Governance
  • Complies with Finance and Risk management governances
Requirements: Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required
  • Development Studies/Social Science/Community Development/ Disaster Management qualification/degree
  • 2 - 4 years development sector experience
  • 3 years experience in community upliftment
  • Basic project management experience essential
  • Ability to engage with key decision-makers and policymakers
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
  • Agility, Adaptability and Responsiveness
  • Curiosity and Imagination
  • Ability to remain calm, stable, and focused during chaotic periods
Technical Competencies:

Humanitarian Relief and disaster management
  • Familiar with Disaster Management Policies (National and International)
  • Knowledge of the types of hazards, risk and vulnerability assessments and appropriate responses for humanitarian relief initiatives
  • Knows the core humanitarian principles and legal frameworks that should apply. Basic knowledge of building beneficiaries preparedness and resilience and ensuring that resilience is inclusive and sustainable. Knows how alignment to the framework is determined
Partnership engagement and Management
  • Familiar with local, provincial, and national government structures
  • Ability to establish strategic partnerships
  • Skills in collaborating with partners to deliver outcomes that support the business strategy and the brand
  • Has a sound understanding of the process and criteria to onboard and manage the performance of partners
  • Knows the process for onboarding and managing partners
Insights
  • Limited interpretation of information from internal and external data sources on the market and customers to inform marketing plans and decisions
  • Knows the types of data and metrics used in marketing management decision making
  • Knows how to interpret market research information to derive insights
Stakeholder Management
  • Knows why stakeholders are important. Basic skills in identifying stakeholder expectations and impact. Understands how the expectations are managed. Basic skills in engaging and communicating with stakeholders
Project Management
  • Skilled in scoping and managing the delivery of a project according to the required project methodology
  • Can manage the costs, risks, and the quality of the project
  • Basic skills in managing project resources
  • Knows the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning processes
