Property24 is looking for someone who understands the world of digital content, creates engaging social media content on various platforms, has excellent writing and sub-editing skills and is a team player. Requirements
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in journalism, English or media studies advantageous
- Exceptional English writing and editing skills
- 1 year experience in a newsroom or similar environment
- Property, financial, lifestyle or similar writing experience
- Research and social media skills
- Newsletter creation and distribution experience
- Hybrid role therefore must live in the Cape Town area
- Short form video creation
- Basic design skills
- Lifestyle article producer
- Sub-editing of press releases
- Online publishing of property news, advice and lifestyle articles
- Image editing and filing
- Assist with content for partner sites
- Assist with research and guest expert content
- Sourcing and writing feature property content as required
- Responsible for compiling and sending the 4 weekly newsletters
- Newsletter analytics and strategy
- Hot Properties writer
- Understanding of social media platforms Facebook and Twitter, and how to publish on each platform
- Social platforms content creation from short form video content to designing images
- Assist with writing marketing /PR copy
- Assist with marketing/PR activities as required
- Ad hoc daily admin
- Manage user feedback resulting from published content
- Editing copy, to remove spelling mistakes and grammatical errors
- Rewriting material so that it flows or reads better and adheres to the style of Property24
- Ensuring that a story fits a particular word count by cutting or expanding material as necessary
- Writing headlines that capture the essence of the story or to improve click-through rate
- Checking facts and stories to ensure they're accurate, adhere to copyright laws, are not libellous or go against Property24s policies
- Cropping photos and deciding where to use them for best effect and writing picture captions
- Fluency in English
- Excellent English writing and proofreading skills
- Excellent sub-editing skills
- Keen interest in property and lifestyle issues
- Attention to detail, accuracy and quality orientation
- Deadline and task driven
- Team player but able to work effectively without supervision
- Mature outlook and good inter-personal skills

- Sound knowledge of editorial principles
