Flowserve is looking for a Rotating Equipment Engineer (On-Site Applications Engineer - OSAE) to provide field and reliability engineering support to Flowserves Southern Africa Customers. The OSAE spends half of the time inspecting and troubleshooting the pumps and seals repaired in our service centers, and the other half performing field inspections inside our customer sites. This role is fundamental to improve our customers assets reliability, maintainability, and availability, and fundamental to Flowserve to generate additional business opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of pump/sealing solutions to meet customer needs and improve Pump/Seal reliability/availability.
- Act as the primary source of information regarding the design, application, installation, and operation of pumps, mechanical seals and valves.
- Support the MOC (Management of Change) process with all required documentation.
- Carry out reliability walkabouts and generate reports accordingly.
- Carry out inventory analysis to validate the quantity of the spare parts stored
- at customer premises.
- Perform pump, mechanical seal, valve failure analysis and produce reports accordingly.
- Work on specific assigned projects, which focus on rotating equipment management and reliability improvement programs and concepts.
- Lead and manage rapid response & standard change outs. Coordinate all related activities.
- Responsible for the close tolerance measurement of rotating equipment for seal upgrades and retrofits.
- Examine failed products, providing written and oral explanations to customer and assist with start-ups and troubleshooting.
- Provide technical support to our sales force and customers to ensure proper seal and sealing system selection and successful operation of our products
- Prepare proposals for products for customers.
- Interact with Flowserve departments as needed to support the order process and assure on-time delivery of seal orders.
- Perform customer surveys using Flowstart.net and develop and finalize standardizations of installed seals, pumps and valves.
- Resolve non-conformance issues with respect to engineering and manufacturing standards and participate in Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP).
- Record the number of new unit jobs engineered.
- Assist in training customers as needed.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- BSME degree or equivalent experience with 5+ years relevant industry experience or demonstrated capability.
- Business experience as an Applications Engineer and/or Project Manager with an industrial rotating equipment manufacturer required.
- Experience in a leading working style which is team oriented and values communication, participation and involvement of others.
- Can demonstrate firm organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Can demonstrate attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset with experienced mechanical aptitude and ability to manage profit and loss accounts.
- High proficiency in project management tools, software, and concepts.
- Have a high standard of written and spoken English as well as strong PC skills and experience with Microsoft Office tools.
