We are seeking a dynamic, professional Nurse Manager for our Operating Room at our Newark campus. In this position, you will provide leadership support for 26 operating rooms, plus trauma OR and hybrid OR, overseeing 146 caregivers. This is an 80-hour bi-weekly, salaried position, primary day shift which requires 24/7 accountability for the Newark OR. The Nurse Manager of the Operating Room assumes accountability and responsibility for excellence in the clinical and operational practice of nursing and the delivery of patient care on the ANCC Magnet designated unit/practice area of OR within ChristianaCare.

Manages all nursing and technical personnel in the department. Assesses competency of staff. Assumes responsibility for scheduling, performance evaluations, coaching, disciplinary action, transfer, promotion, and termination, salary adjustment, hiring and training of new employees.
Demonstrates understanding and application of CCHS Core Values in daily work.
Functions as a highly visible role model, demonstrating quality expertise and professional behavior that supports the professional development of the staff and the strategic goals of CCHS. Identifies and develops strategies to improve knowledge base and professionalism of staff.
Directs and supports the Assistant Nurse Manager and Specialty Coordinators of the Christiana Hospital Operating Room.
Identifies potential future leaders and engages in succession planning.
Analyzes administrative and operational functions; implements appropriate changes and system improvements.
Develops implements and monitors performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Recommends departmental structure and staffing to support the needs of the organization. Delegates unit responsibilities as appropriate.
Facilitates cooperative and collaborative relationships among the Department of Surgery, Department of Anesthesia, other perioperative services departments, other CCHS departments, and physician office practices.
Prepares annual capital and operating budgets.
Analyzes monthly expenditures and develops plans to offset variances.
Identifies new program and service opportunities for the department and or perioperative services.
Acts as a liaison with other hospital departments to enhance program development and improve clinical excellence.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
BSN required, Masters Degree required (nursing, healthcare, or business management preferred)
Five years of appropriate clinical and leadership experience
Current RN licensure in the State of DE.
Participation in professional nursing activities.
Current approved specialty certification required, CNOR preferred.
BLS required.
