Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the distribution centre, within department allocated (Inbound, Picking, Outbound, Inventory)
- Manage and optimize all aspects of warehousing, including receiving, put-a-way, picking, Loading and outbound processes.
- Audit, review and adhere to operational SOPs and procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational performance and reducing costs.
- Utilize industrial engineering principles to analyze workflow, identify bottlenecks and implement solutions.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and process audits to identify areas for improvement.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement among staff through training and development programs.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors and frontline staff to achieve operational goals.
- Set performance targets and provide regular feedback to ensure accountability.
- Promote a safe and inclusive work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure accurate stock control to meet customer demand.
- Implement best practices in inventory management to minimize shrinkage and maximize efficiency.
- Performance Metrics and Reporting:
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, including productivity, quality and cost metrics.
- Utilize data analytics to drive informed decision-making and strategic planning.
- Technology and Systems Optimization:
- Leverage warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technologies to streamline operations. Preferably SAP EWM and ONE NETWORK.
- Identify and implement new technologies and tools to enhance operational capabilities and efficiency.
- Ensure systems are properly maintained and staff are trained on their use.
- Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management within a distribution centre, preferably in the FMCG sector.
- Proven track record of leading continuous improvement initiatives and driving operational excellence.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant technologies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in warehouse operations.
