Kumba Iron Ore
We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Rosebank, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
Job Description
As a Specialist ORM, your responsibilities will include:
- Review relevant ORM documentation and design training material on ORM/OM integration, etc.
- Identify, Create, Adapt and Align Business Unit SHEQ Standards with approved Company Global SHEQ Standards/Directives (Business Unit specific).
- Ensure alignment with supporting documents e.g. lesson guides, unit standards, assessment guides and legal requirements. As part of the OM implementation team lead the configuration and design of the SHE works templates and work packages.
- Review the Baseline and Issue Base Risk Assessments applicable to each project as well as the relevant BTAs, critical controls, procedures, etc.
- Review Hazard Identification process and systems (Align with Work Management Process).
- Identify and list short and medium health and safety wins (Quick win strategy) identified from the gap analysis
- Identify and evaluate risks associated with tasks and steps within the work management templates
- Review Incident Management process and routines (Align with Work Management Process)
- Establish required ORM integration committee, define purpose and context.
- Establish business expectations, performance targets and KPI's.
- Design training material on ORM/AOM integration, etc.
- Ensure alignment between Kumba strategy and ensure knowledge transfer.
- Develop and incorporate schedule daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly Safety routines. Integrate SHEQ into Operating Model routines.
- Review electronic data analysis system - enable business to sort data in such a way that information analysis can be done timeously, effectively and to create a pro-active safety environment.
- Manage a safe and healthy work environment where employees and service providers can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment
Qualifications
- Relevant Bachelors degree in SHE or a relevant Engineering Degree
- Drivers license: Code B
- Medically fit for role
- A3 Safety Risk Management (Advantageous)
- Relevant experience within the risk management environment.
- Relevant experience in an Engineering/SHE Management role within Mining Industry is preferable.
- Experience in the audit and analysis of SHE standards/requirements including:
- ISO 14001 audit training - advantageous.
- OHSAS 18001 audit training -advantageous.
- At least 4 years operational experience in a Safety Environment preferably in Mining.
