Reporting to the Regional Director, Africa the primary function of the Africa Operations Manager is to manage processes, budgets, and people, whether in a retail, legal or transport setting.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing the South African operations staff in all regional office locations, in conjunction with the Regional Director to ensure that they carry out their responsibilities effectively whilst providing a high-quality service to customers.
- Maintaining regular contact with customers to resolve any problems and to identify and improve service levels and efficiency.
- Working closely with the Procurement department to strengthen the Africa agent network in terms of presence, rates and performance.
- Working closely with the Business Development team to provide solutions and to meet customer expectations.
- Assisting, when necessary, in customer/regulatory and internal audits and manage the follow-up process (including managing any findings or actions).
- Reviewing current ways of working to identify improvement opportunities including but not limited to: job creation, operational process, SOPs, workflow and workload management and IT system requirements.
- Assisting in the definition and delivery of strategic key performance indicators.
- Behaving as an advocate for positive change, by promoting a team culture of reflective learning and continuous improvement in the region. Enabling and empowering all team members to make decisions and effect change in line with our strategic objectives.
- Assisting the Regional Director in the process of bringing to life and instilling Biocair values throughout the region, leading by example and demonstrating an understanding of and commitment to our values, mission, and vision.
In addition, you will demonstrate these key competencies:
- Demonstrable previous experience within an operations management role in a specialist logistics environment.
- Proven ability to build, train, mentor and supervise a productive and engaged Operations team managing employees remotely as well as onsite.
- Excellent Communication skills at all levels, both verbal and written, with a passion for providing customer service excellence.
- Proven ability to work well under pressure.
- Intermediate MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
- An understanding of pricing and costing and sales management is highly desirable.
