As a well-known hydraulic and engineering manufacturing company, we are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to manage, oversee, and design, projects and operations of the company on a national and international basis. The role will have frequent travel between Johannesburg and Richards Bay.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Overseeing and managing all projects and maintenance solutions for various functions within the business segment as required, managing the project budget, sites, documenting project progress, assessing risks, staying on schedule, and dealing with various stakeholders,
- Managing and driving team of people both on in house projects and at customer sites, working under pressure and meeting timeline deliverables,
- Managing and implementing project solutions efficiently and managing expectations to improve output while meeting project deadlines.
- Project management of plant processes and systems to streamline operational activity.
- Ongoing overseeing of overall equipment maintenance and capital projects weekly, monthly & quarterly.
- Executing project justification, scope and planning for capital projects.
- Ensuring the quality of products conforms to customers standards as well as compliance to ISO, IATF and all legislative requirements.
- Developing and revising product specifications to meet customer requirements.
- Managing customer relationships and technical assistance through customer visits and audits.
- Overseeing staff resource allocation across operations to minimize labor costs.
- Overseeing the production facility to ensure business production objectives are achieved.
- Managing the production capacity planning in line with customer demand.

The ideal candidate possesses these skills.
- Bachelors degree qualification in either Industrial Engineering or Project Management is preferred for the role,
- Experience in a Projects / Operations role within a technical /hydraulic or engineering industry is essential,
- Ability to read engineering drawings,
- Exceptional communication skills with people management experience,
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office tools,
- Knowledge/experience in SAP is preferred and would be an added advantage,
- Experience working in a matrix organization with various reporting lines as well as being familiar with and dealing with international stakeholders is a must-have,
- Previous experience having worked on turnkey solutions and various maintenance projects is essential,
- Ability to travel,
- Fluency in English is required.
