About the team:
Our engineering team (currently ~200 engineers) is split into organisations which we call Fleets. Each Fleet focuses on a core customer journey (onboarding, security, payments, support, new business, growth, and marketing, etc.). Each of these fleets contains multiple smaller teams called Pods, each of which focuses on a specific aspect of the product.
Pods will include a product owner, product designer, back-end engineers, Android, iOS, and Web developers, who each bring a unique perspective to the problem you are all contributing towards. We're agile, use scrum, continuous integration and continuous delivery, deploying to production every single day.
The role in a nutshell:
As Engineering Operations Manager, youll be working closely with a growing Operations Team, Stephan Broek our Lead Engineering Operations Manager, and Mark Debney our Engineering Operations Director to champion service and enable visibility and reliability. Working closely with fleets to help them in this journey with their unique challenges while enabling our teams to reach their maximum potential without compromising on reliability.
Your mission will be:
- Help teams identify and remediate operational risk across all Luno environments
- Help teams pragmatically balance priorities between classic deliverables and reliability focussed work
- Have the technical situational awareness of whats going on in your area and where the weaknesses lie
- Work with the greater operations management team to help fleets achieve reliability goals
- Come from an operational or software engineering background
- Experience with application reliability and stability across teams
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- A passion for agile, software development, mobile technology and crypto
- To be friendly, transparent, articulate and driven to succeed.
- Experience in an engineering operations role or significant experience in either SRE or software engineering and a good understanding of management.
- Ability to work in South Africa.
