The Opportunity
We are on the lookout for a driven Operations Manager to take operational leadership across multiple production sites/divisions (e.g., steel fabrication/manufacturing, transport, and maintenance), based in Lae, Papua New Guinea.
This pivotal role, reporting to the General Manager, encapsulates the essence of seamless, efficient, and cost-effective operations. The Operations Manager will play a crucial part in building the business, understanding, and harnessing the required resources and personnel to propel the organisation to new heights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and supervising a diverse team spanning technical tradespeople, production staff, and administrative personnel across four sites in Lae and Port Moresby, nurturing a harmonious and productive work environment.
- Overseeing the meticulous operations of heavy steel fabrication, encompassing truck bodies, buildings, steel frames, universal beams, and more, ensuring top-notch quality and service delivery
- Engaging closely with team members to understand daily operational challenges and resource capacities, devising effective solutions to ensure optimal productivity and growth
Our ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with at least 5 years of combined experience in:
- Boilermaking, steel fabrication, or other hands-on relevant trades background (welding, metal/steel works, etc.)
- Supervisory roles and management position(s)
- Extensive operational experience within the heavy steel fabrication/manufacturing sector
Your go-getter attitude, coupled with a solid track record in coaching and developing individuals, showcases your readiness to tackle challenges head-on.
