We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for Paint Operator position under the Motors Manufacturing Department. The position will report to EPU Manager Motors and is based in Dunnottar, Nigel (Gauteng) .
Job Purpose
Painting of the rotor, as well as supporting with the loading and cleaning (resin) of the completed stator frame windings between the VPI (Vacuum & Pressure Impregnation) and the various drying ovens.
Reporting to the EPU Manager / Group Leader / Production Team Leader
Key Responsibilities
- Mixing solvents and paints according to the described ratio
- Masking and painting the rotor
- Loading and unloading the rotor into paint booth
- Cleaning equipment after use and tidying area in accordance with 5S
- Performing equipment and tooling self-inspections (blocked filters / nozzles etc.)
- Checking drying times of the product, according to the VPI special process
- Loading and unloading the wound stator in the various ovens and VPI according to these drying times
- Cleaning excess resin from the product and Sorting of waste
- Adhering to continuous improvement processes and teamwork
- Complying with all safety rules & regulations
- Detecting, anticipating and reporting minor manufacturing anomalies, as well as more complex defects
- Participate in applicable continuous improvement initiatives for motor
- Grade 12 or N3 Certificate
- Relevant experience within a manufacturing and/or similar environment
- Previous experience mixing and preparing the paint for application
- Good knowledge of painting, resin, hot product handling and lifting hazards
- Able to operate, start and stop the drying / curing ovens
- Read and interpret technical documents (work instructions, safety instructions, etc.)
- Able to operate hand power tools, slings, drilling machines, grinders and other hand tools related to the job requirement
- Have appropriate knowledge of water base paint and solvents base paint
- Appropriate knowledge on paint equipment settings and controls
- Understanding of paint defects and rectifications thereof
- Understand cleaning, masking and preparing paint surfaces
- Able to use the crane for assembly operations and move the product with pallet trucks
Previous experience mixing and preparing the paint for application
