The world needs more Intrepid people:
In South Africa, tours are delivered by Independent Freelance Group Leaders, and as a Cook with Intrepid you will partner with them to ensure that our customers are taken care of while travelling with Intrepid.
You will take ownership of all hot meals, food preparation, and portions to ensure that our travellers are provided with delicious meals that will take their experience with Intrepid to the next level! Your main responsibilities will be the preparing and portioning of a variety of meals, budget, and menu planning, hygiene and cleanliness, managing equipment and camping materials as well as ensuring dietary requirements are always met and working to ensure every guest is left with a positive experience.
With Intrepid you will be ensuring that the work you do has meaning, as Intrepid focuses on giving back and investing in your local community, which is why use local cooks, leaders, local operators and ensure we give back into the destination at every opportunity.
To be successful as a Cook with Intrepid you will require:
- Police Clearance
- Valid passport for six months
- Chef Certification (not essential but preferred)
- Ability to conduct customer needs assessment to fulfil dietary requirements
- Well versed in preparing, seasoning and cooking a variety of food
- Highly experienced in following sanitation guidelines for food preparation
- Exceptional understanding of performing quality inspections to ensure that the quality of food is good
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds & work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
- Be willing to follow directions and ask questions for clarification if needed
