COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

Our client, an upmarket hotel and conference center in Pretoria is looking for a Painter to join their team.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Applies paints, sealers, and solvents to exterior and interior building surfaces such as plaster, drywall, ceilings, concrete, and wood.
• Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc.
• Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, Sanders, paint stripper, heat gun etc.
• Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (e.g., plaster, Polyfilla, Rhino light)
• Performs building exterior and interior caulking, finish repair, mud and tape, and texturing tasks.
• Using equipment such as scaffolding, ladders-Uses mechanized high-reach equipment to renew caulking on exterior building panel seams, windows, and doors.
• Performs special refinishing tasks including wood surface preparation, staining, and sealing.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Performs minor plaster repair, blending newly renovated wall surfaces with existing plaster.
• Surveys building painting project sites to estimate time and material quantities required; selects appropriate surface coatings.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Complete tasks to company Standards
• Comply with company regulations and policies.
• Work all shifts Flexibility when job demands.
• Preform work outside scope of work general maintenance

Educational Requirements:

• Grade 12 or Equivalent /trade certification (desirable)

Experience and Skills Required:

• Min 3 to 5 years directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
• Selecting and applying paint and associated products.
• Applying coatings and/or caulking and completing repairs to exterior and interior surfaces.
• Wood surface preparation, staining, and/or sealing techniques.
• Treat, repair, paint water damage area
• Be detailed oriented.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
• Ability to select, mix, and apply surface coatings which successfully match and/or restore historic interior or
• exterior surfaces.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Ability to estimate basic project time and material quantity requirements
• Reliable, Teamwork, Communicating Must be able to work long hours, night shifts and weekends to meet operational requirements.
