Role Responsibilities
- Providing portfolio analytics services to our discretionary managed clients, with an emphasis on unlisted investments.
- Monitor and evaluate the managers responsible for the portfolios, working alongside the portfolio management and investment research teams.
- Ensure that drawdown schedules for the unlisted portion of assets are closely monitored and updated to ensure efficient and effective management of assets.
- Perform ongoing analysis and monitoring of the exposures and risks associated with these portfolios.
- Assist in constructing client portfolios and products that cater to different types of investment objectives.
- Provide support to the Portfolio Management team by generating monthly and quarterly reports, which involve data retrieval, validation, reconciliation, analysis, and preparation.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the market, the associated risks and tools, as well as the systems used to manage these portfolios.
- Perform data interrogation and analysis to generate both client and internal reports.
- Check reports generated by other analysts, interpret and analyse the results, and submit reports to clients.
- Generate presentations for clients to report back and communicate with them to respond to queries.
- Improve processes by automating efforts to improve efficiencies and perform ad hoc analyses.
- Manually recalculate some statistics to ensure accuracy.
- BCom, B.Bus.Sci, BSc Degree (Maths, Accounting, Statistics, Finance, Engineering, Physics) or equivalent.
- Preference to CA (SA) candidates and candidates with prior unlisted investment experience.
- Required to be a FAIS compliant representative or working towards obtaining the relevant qualification.
- 2 - 5 years of experience in financial services.
- Preferably some experience in unlisted investments.
- Knowledge of unlisted assets and the ability to apply your skills creatively to diverse investment opportunities.
- Experience safeguarding the integrity of sensitive client data.
- Experience working with large quantities of portfolio and market data.
- Understanding of portfolio and instrument level information.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Communicates clearly and politely, both verbally and in writing.
- Uses initiative, is proactive and possesses problem solving skills.
- Willing to put in long hours when needed.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
