Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist role for the Group (comprising Octotel & RSAWEB) presents an enticing opportunity. The incumbent will be responsible for performing a variety of payroll processing tasks to ensure timely and accurate payment of employee salaries. This role involves maintaining payroll records, calculating deductions, and responding to payroll-related quiries.

RSAWEB:

Established in 2001, RSAWEB is a fast-growing and highly innovative Internet Service Provider. We specialize in Cloud infrastructure, Enterprise Connectivity, Mobile Data Management, Fibre To The Home and Fibre To The Business. Our focus is on helping customers succeed online by leveraging technology to increase revenue, manage risk and contain costs.

Octotel:

Established in 2016, Octotel is a fast growing and highly innovative Fibre Network Operator. We specialize in the build of FTTx networks across South Africa. Our focus is on providing our customers with the best possible internet experience through a stable and high-speed fibre connection.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Payroll Processing:
  • Prepare and process payroll for all employees on a monthly schedule.
  • Salaries, overtime, and deductions accurately.
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping:
  • Enter and update employee information in the payroll system, including new hires, terminations, changes in pay rates, and personal information.
  • Maintain accurate and organized payroll records and documentation.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
Prepare and submit payroll reports and summaries as required by management.
  • Deductions and Adjustments:
  • Calculate and process deductions for taxes, benefits and other withholdings.
  • Process adjustments and corrections to payroll as needed.
  • Employee Support:
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, including earnings, deductions, and timekeeping.
  • Provide employees with information and support related to payroll policies and procedures.
  • Timekeeping:
  • Verify and reconcile employee timecards and attendance records.
  • Address discrepancies and ensure accurate recording of hours worked.
Requirements

Education:

A completed relevant HR or Finance related tertiary level qualification is preferred.

Experience:

Proven experience in payroll processing environment of at least 2 years.

Skills:
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Knowledge:
  • Understanding of payroll practices, procedures, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and other relevant employment law.
