Sama is searching for a talented Human Resource professional to support our People Operations function and make the most out of our capabilities in Compensation and Benefits; Policy and Procedure development and management; and support with Compliance efforts (ISO, SOC 2). As the People Operations Specialist, you are a strong strategist & a roll-up-sleeves HR Practitioner who enjoys working directly with our teams and other stakeholders to solve challenges. You will act as a thought partner and guide Sama through the Compliance, Compensation and Benefits best practice and ensure the Policies and Procedures we have (including future state ones) address the needs of the organisation and its staff. You will be a part of the Global People Team, ensuring that your innovative ideas result in a smooth experience for Sama employees.
Responsibilities
Policy Management
- Ensure People Operations policies comply with changing laws and regulations
- Act as the project manager for transitioning from Kenya and Uganda Employee Handbooks to online policy platform
- Update and maintain all People policies relevant in Kenya and Uganda and the online policy platform for the region
- Oversee and support the timely dissemination of policy changes across company-wide online portals at onboarding and when changes are made
- Collaborate with HRBPs to ensure regular sensitization of policies
- Update and draft new People Operations policies and contribute to developing other policies for East Africa region
- Manage the online policy management platform for EA
- Establish and oversee process for obtaining and storing employee policy acknowledgements
- Serve as both contributor and project manager for People related infosec activities in EA
- Maintain and update People Team risk register.
- Support ISO and Project specific audits
- Contribute to creating and updating salary benchmarks for Kenya and Uganda
- Contribute to setting Production team compensation levels annually
- Project manage Production team progressions and Corporate staff promotion processes
- Respond to employee queries regarding compensation
- Support administration of benefits like Medical, pension, WIBA and others
- Project manage compensation increase and bonus payout processes
- Support development of Sama's compensation strategy
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field; Postgraduate qualification in Human resources/People Management/People Development is also desirable.
- Minimum of 4 years' of experience in HR/People Operations
- Experience in building, developing and maintenance of human resources policies and procedures
- Experience in leading and supporting ISO Audits
- Experience in Compensation and Benefits administration and management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
- Excellent people management skills
- Analytical and goal-oriented; a strong bias toward action
