People Specialist (SA)

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

You will be responsible to provide expert advice to stakeholders across all business areas and provide guidance on best practice, challenges, and solutions pertinent to people. You will actively participate in the implementation and coordination of key strategic and operational processes pertaining to the employee lifecycle.

  • You contribute to the development and delivery of effective line management development programmes.
  • You will contribute to the compilation of People reports, analysing trends to ensure any changes can quickly be identified, root causes understood, and solutions created or supported.
  • You will ensure adherence to employment legislation, people policies and governance regarding employment relationships, including all employee and industrial relations.
  • You keep up to date with any changes in legislation interpret these changes and notify the business as necessary.
  • You will actively promote a working environment that is characterised by transparency, consistency, and fairness.
  • You will act as HRIS Champion by providing insights and support to stakeholders and feeding any observations into the People Systems Team to support continuous improvement.
  • You will provide expert advice, guidance and support to Leaders on people management, employment and industrial/employee relations matters e.g., absence, performance management grievance, conduct & capability processes.
  • You will contribute to continuous improvement by auditing and reviewing ER/IR cases and people processes to ensure consistency, which feeds into the development and continuous improvement of work practices and processes.
  • You will ensure relevant employee records are maintained, retained, and destroyed in line with GDPR, POPIA and other relevant legislation, as required based on geography.
  • You will participate in the drafting and recording of employee related administration.
  • You will actively participate in the improvement of the employee lifecycle, analyse and improve effectiveness of all stages.
  • You contribute to the implementation approved People initiatives, plans, strategies, and procedures.
  • You will manage your own workload, apply compassion, tact and diplomacy to difficult situations and know when to escalate issues.
  • You will actively support in all matters relating to employee committees/forums/trade union.
  • You will ensure employee queries are addressed efficiently and thoroughly.
  • You will support audits, including but not limited to local governing body audits, Client audits and internal compliance audits.
  • Other duties as directed by my line manager.

Requirements
  • You have a minimum of 1 years HR experience.
  • You have experience of using HR information systems.
  • You have a tertiary level qualification in HR or a related field/ or have relevant experience.
  • You have a solid and extensive understanding of local employment legislation, employee relations and industrial relations.
  • You understand Employee Wellness and effective implementation of such initiatives.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to nurture strong working relationships with peers, stakeholders, and the team.
  • You are a highly motivated person with a track record of identifying issues and delivering solutions in a dynamic environment.
  • You are a change champion who is always looking to find the best ways of working.
  • You are collaborative, supportive team player who is always open to sharing knowledge and mentoring/ guiding other team members.
  • You are results and deadline oriented, with the ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • You have effective planning, organising, and coordinating skills.
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal & written).
