Job Description
A vacancy has arisen for a Performance Analyst within Old Mutual Investment Groups Performance Research team.
Suitably qualified and skilled candidates are invited to apply giving full details of qualifications and working experience. Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates
Key Result Areas:
- Monthly production of fund and benchmark performances for all OMAIs funds and products, in both a technical format and in a format suitable for presentation to clients. This includes certain complex performance calculations like IRR return calculations.
- Maintain records on a client, as well as a product level, to facilitate reporting
- Design and produce monthly and quarterly reports for distribution.
- Analysis of investment performances and preparation of graphs, statistics, and presentations on a recurring and ad-hoc basis for use in client feedbacks and marketing initiatives
- Analyze fund returns and comment on reasons for out- / under-performance.
- Preparation of data for surveys produced by consultants.
- Continuous research and assessment of new processes performance measurement and performance evaluation
- Responsible for on-going GIPS compliance
- Calculation of performance-based fees
- Ad-hoc performance projects, this includes having to attend meetings and interact with the various parties involved in the particular project
- A bachelors or honours degree with Finance/Accounting/Statistics as a major subject.
- Having/(Studying towards) a CFA or CIPM is an advantage
- Understanding and knowledge of financial markets
- Understanding and knowledge of performance standards (GIPS)
- Knowledge of compound interest, discounting, NPV, IRR, and bond valuation calculations will be a significant advantage.
- Practical understanding of different performance calculation, attribution and risk statistic methodologies.
- Strong Excel skills
- Knowledge of StatPro will be an advantage
- Experience in accounting / portfolio administration is advantageous
- Experience in the asset management industry is advantageous
- Knowledge of eFront/FIA will be an advantage
- Highly numerate
- Excellent Communication skills (both written and oral)
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Self-motivation and initiative
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Take ownership of work
- Fast Learner
- Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
- Proactive approach to address changing needs of (mainly) internal clients
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills particularly with a view to find ways of automating regular reports
