ROLE SUMMARY: A vacancy exists for a Unit Manager in Surgical Ward at Botshilu Private Hospital, reporting to the Nursing Service Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic patient care and building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders in line with the Company and Hospital strategic objectives. REQUIREMENTS: • Diploma or Bcur Degree in nursing. • Current registration with SANC is essential. • Experience as a Unit Manager. • Orthopaedic and Surgical nursing experience is advantageous. • Relevant experience in a Private Hospital environment is preferred. • Computer literacy is essential. KEY OUTPUTS: • Identify quality improvement opportunities and implement them. • Manage nursing costs according to the unit’s budget. • Identify clinical and safety risks and trends, implement corrective action and monitor on an ongoing basis. • Manage stock utilisation together with relevant stakeholders. • Build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. • Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care. • Promote customer satisfaction within the unit and quality care, address customer complaints and conduct quality care rounds. • Ensure orientation of new staff and students. • Ensure competence of staff and students and create an environment conducive for learning and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders. • Promote staff well-being. • Implement initiatives that focus on improving clinical outcomes and report accordingly and encourage best operating practices.
