REPORTS TO: EXECUTIVE PLANNING KIDS
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Are you passionate about products, skilled in analysis, and committed to retail excellence? Join us as a Planning Manager to lead the execution of the Girls portfolios merchandise and location plans to deliver on the Ackermans strategic intent.
Reporting to the Executive Planning: Kids, you will play a key role in developing and implementing a strategic planning approach for your portfolio. Youll lead a team of professional planners, ensuring efficient operations, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategy Development: In partnership with the Executive, develop and execute a comprehensive merchandise and location planning strategy for the allocated product portfolio, aligned with the company's objectives
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Marketing, Merchandising, Retail Operations, and Supply Chain, to ensure alignment and consistency in execution.
- Performance Monitoring: Establish relevant KPIs to measure and monitor product performance in terms of stock management / turn, markdown, and discount policy, OTB management, CODB management, purchasing mandates, and optimising strategies based on data-driven insights
- Systems: Utilise relevant planning systems to support and enable performance.
- Leadership: Effectively lead the Planning team for the relevant portfolio with a strong focus engagement and talent development.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of the retail merchandise cycle with regards to Buying, Planning, Logistics and Stores
- Understand, analyse, and interpret various internal and external factors that may impact the portfolios success.
- Understanding of retail business systems and related processes IT
- A comprehensive understanding of replenishment principles and methodologies.
- A comprehensive knowledge/understanding of SAs retail clothing market, customers, and competitors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence effectively across all levels of the organisation
- Strategic thinking and analytical abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities and market conditions
- Strong leadership skills to inspire, motivate and guide the planning team, fostering cross functional collaboration and driving results

- Experience in managing budgets effectively, allocating resources to maximise ROI

- A relevant degree/qualification in Commerce, Finance or a related field
- Proven experience 3-5 years in a retail planning management capacity
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Clothing/footwear experience essential
