Role responsibilities
- Maintain, develop, and deliver the appropriate safety, quality, and environmental improvements to sustain and enhance performance levels.
- Continually monitor and review manufacturing performance against agreed objectives and take necessary actions where appropriate.
- Ensure that there is a clear set of action plans for each departmental target with clear resources and budgets to achieve.
- Oversee all issues relating to recruitment, development, and training of all site employees as well as appropriate succession planning.
- Review with the Operations Director the future requirements of the site including the process to introduce new technology. Also set out the engineering and capital investment requirements of the site as part of the overall business plan.
- Develop plans to improve the sites manufacturing and technical performance using World Class Manufacturing (Lean Manufacturing) tools
- Where the site is unionised, develop, and maintain clear and strong links with the Union representative(s) on site to ensure the sites production quotas are met.
- Liaise with the other departments to ensure that finance targets, delivery schedules, quality and market needs are achieved.
- Deliver the objectives of any capital projects, driving improvements in yield, plant availability and productivity.
- Actively lead the plant/site management team by being fully involved in the strategic development of the site against its corporate objectives.
- Providing string and focused leadership ensuring that the appropriate manufacturing culture has the following features co-operative, responsive, flexible, results orientated, quick to solve problems.
- Build and manage a highly motivated and professional team who can rise to meet the demands of a challenging business environment.
- BTech, MTech, BSc, MSc, BEng, or MEng Degree in Production/Engineering discipline
- Minimum of 3 years or more experience as a Plant Manager within manufacturing leading dynamic, and performance driven individuals within warehouse management, production management, process engineering, engineering, continuous improvement, H&S, and HR.
- specialties would be highly advantageous).
- Applicants should have knowledge, and experience of continuous improvement tools and their applications (mandatory).
- WCM understanding, and knowledge is preferred (lean manufacturing, total quality management (TQM), and other manufacturing best practices)
