Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with leadership to formulate production strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Provide technical direction for process development and technology strategies.
- Ensure adherence to legal requirements and control standards across all aspects of the department.
- Monitor and report on capital and improvement projects' business performance.
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance process efficiencies.
- Assist Operations Manager and Process Leaders in maximizing plant utilization and minimizing metal losses.
- Devise cost-saving initiatives and contribute to waste reduction and productivity enhancements.
- Work closely with evaluation and process engineers for material sampling and processing evaluations.
- Represent the management team in technical and business projects.
- Develop and assess capital investment business cases and related documentation.
- Oversee the commissioning of new capital investments while adhering to legal prerequisites.
- Contribute to the development of operational and capital budgets.
- Matric Certificate qualification.
- Degree (BTech. /BEng. Tech.) in Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering or related field (BEng./BSc. Eng. qualification).
- At least 7 years of experience in manufacturing or similar domains, with 3 years in first-line management within Project Management/Operations.
- Solid understanding of risk management, encompassing risk identification, mitigation, and supply chain management.
- Strong team management abilities suitable for diverse, performance-focused teams.
- Aptitude in financial analysis and statistical modeling to facilitate budgeting and profitability evaluation.
- Strategic acumen in developing and executing growth strategies.
- Sound knowledge of processing plants, equipment, sampling, materials chemistry, and ease of processing.
- Competency in project management, ensuring adherence to process improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for conveying technical, financial, and statistical information.
- Familiarity with JDE and SAP systems for metallurgical accounting.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office (Excel, Outlook), and specialized software.
- Effective report writing skills, producing timely and accurate reports.
