- Working autonomously to contribute to the assessment, formulation, and diagnosis of service users mental health needs using advanced level critical thinking and decision-making skills. They will be responsible for initiating, monitoring, and reviewing treatments/medications, seeking input from other relevant professionals where necessary. This will include basic physical health investigations and monitoring of psychotropic medications. The post-holder will have an excellent knowledge of relevant legal frameworks such as the MHA and MCA and operate confidently and effectively within these legal requirements.
- Providing high quality clinical leadership within the Multi-Disciplinary Team. This will include chairing safety huddles, ward reviews, and complex-case meetings. The post-holder will contribute to the development of local policies, procedures and service improvements by providing a senior clinical voice and an understanding of the impact of advanced practice.
- Contributing to and support the development of junior staff by identifying training needs and providing informal and formal teaching on a variety of topics such as mental health presentations, treatment options/monitoring and legal frameworks.
- Leading on and contributing to quality improvement initiatives using recognised improvement methodology. They will support the implementation of evidence-based practice and local/national policies and guidelines which are relevant to their area of practice.
