ABOUT THE ROLE:
This role is a permanent full-time position.
- As a principal Category you will be responsible to provide leadership, subject matter expert advice, strategic direction and procurement expertise to guide the execution of Waste Management, Automation, Tyres, Conveyor Belts, Major Operational services and Corporate Services projects across the portfolio for South32 Operations in Africa to safely and sustainably increase productivity, lower costs, manage risks and unlock organisational value.
Other key responsibilities include, but arent limited to:
- Provides leadership in ensuring that thebusiness needs strategically match the market, while maintaining optimal cost, surety of supply and managing risk and opportunities;
- Responsible for supplier development and management to drive and upskill local capability in line with jurisdictional requirements;
- Drives total cost of ownership principles to integrate project outcomes with ongoing and new business requirements at organisationallevel;
- Identify and drive value adding initiatives across the business for the benefit of theorganisation;
- Work collaboratively with the Supply Africa Operations
- team to ensure seamless delivery of projects according to strategy, and input into annual/biannual strategy reviews;
- Develops and executes sub-category sourcing plan and sourcing strategies;
- Builds and contributes to a diverse team with an inclusive culture that strives to drive value andinnovation;
- Drives cross-functional outcomes through collaborative engagement and influencing underpinned by deep sourcing expertise and end-to-end category and contractmanagement.
ABOUT YOU:
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Must have 3-5 years experience in category management;
- Ability to read, understand, draft and negotiate major contracts;
- Excellent understanding of contract law
- MCIPS preferred.
Qualifications for this role are:
- Bachelors degree in commerce, supply chain, or law.
