Principal Specialist : Group Compliance Assurance & Data Analytics

Role Purpose

Responsible for leading and executing compliance assurance audits, reporting and ad hoc management requests across Vodacom Group in support of strengthening the control environment and will include data analytics execution and support across the markets in line with the Vodacom Compliance methodology and professional standards.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

Execute the approved compliance assurance plan with minimal supervision;

Lead and manage compliance assurance activity (compliance audits and continuous monitoring) and ensuring the implementation of remedial work arising from this are delivered in line with the defined requirements and timelines;

Reviewing the processes and controls on how new and existing regulatory and policy requirements are being communicated and embedded in the businesses;

Make connections between data and analytics initiatives and legal compliance frameworks, laws and compliance policies and provide technical input into the creation of compliance custom scripts and typologies to enable the use of data, AI and robotics;

Collate and analyse information from various sources in order to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal compliance controls across the markets using data analytics.

The Ideal Candidate For This Role Will Have

Must have technical/professional qualifications:

Relevant Degree (e.g. LLB, B.Com, Bachelors in Auditing) ;

Higher relevant specialist qualifications in audit or assurance, risk or compliance management;

Comprehensive and specialist knowledge of telecommunications and financial services legislation in South Africa and on the continent;

Sound understanding of compliance and risk management principles.

Desired Experience

Minimum of 8 - 10 years specialist experience in assurance with relevant compliance and risk management experience ;

Telecommunications and mobile financial services experience will be advantageous;

Professional qualification in Auditing and Assurance, Compliance, Risk, Law.

Core Competencies, Knowledge And Experience

Experienced compliance or audit professional who has very strong audit and assurance skills and understands compliance and risk frameworks;

Ability to analyse and interpret on regulatory, technical information and legislation with ability to apply highly technical rules to the control testing;

Deep understanding of Compliance and Risk Management principles and application into the day to day activities;

Self-starter and self-motivated who is able to prioritise and manage multiple work streams;

Ability to present authoritatively to internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriate protection of Vodacoms interests, whilst concentrating on the issues that really matter.

Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Influencing, bridging and negotiating skills (verbal and written).
