Investment Banking
Job Purpose
- To differentiate Investment Bankings market offerings through sound deal structuring resulting in structural and economic efficiencies for both the bank and our clients.
- To assist in delivering market leading, innovative solutions for the banks client base both in South Africa and across the African continent.
- To provide structuring expertise and input (including tax, regulatory, legal and commercial) to the following Investment Banking business units: Debt Finance, Private Equity, Advisory, Specialised Distribution and Sustainable Finance Solutions.
- To provide training and awareness across Investment Banking on market trends in relation to transaction structuring, relevant legislation and threats and opportunities arising from changes in regulation and legislation.
- To ensure that Investment Banking transactions comply with internal risk parameters, governance, approvals including (but not limited to) Mandatory Disclosure Requirements, Common Reporting Standards, DAC 6 and other relevant legislation and regulation.

- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree (Hons) in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Sciences, Economics, Legal or Business Science
- Post graduate qualification in Taxation
- Honours Degree with specialisation in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Engineering or Science.
- Chartered Accountant (SA), Chartered Financial Analyst
- 10 years relevant experience in Investment Banking frontline and/or a tax advisory function.
- Proven track record of providing structuring advice (incl tax, regulatory, high level accounting) on Investment Banking transactions.
- Ability to analyse complex transactions (including preference share transactions) and to develop structured solutions.
- Communication at the highest level with advisors and clients in relation to deal structuring matters.
- Strong network of relationships with legal advisors and consulting forms.
- Working knowledge of IFRS, deep understanding of IFRS 9 and its impact on the taxation of banks.
- Working knowledge of company law, Banks Act and other relevant legislation.
- International tax experience in dealing with withholding taxes as well as transfer pricing considerations.
