PRINT DEPOT CONTROLLER

Job Purpose
To complete customer requests for printing by receiving and processing requests for printing.
Responsibilities
The successful candidates responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Job costing:
- Receive requests for printing (either as electronic or hard copies) and record;
- Calculate the cost for printing and inform client;
- Complete paperwork for every print job received;
- Ensure cost for printing is kept up to date according to UP policies;
- Machine operation and coordinate dispatch:
- Process the printing to specification using the appropriate material;
- Inform client when printing is done and ready for collection;
- Complete the dispatch documents;
- Oversee the dispatch of the printed documents;
- Planning:
- Keep track of stock, and order new stock timeously;
- Keep register of tasks to be performed on a regular basis;
- Keep statistics and calculate totals;
- Maintenance:
- Ensuring that machine is in good condition;
- Cleaning the machines;
- Ordering of chemicals, paper and stationery;
- General:
- Maintain quality service by dealing with enquiries regarding completion;
- Provide prompt and efficient reaction to client requests;
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
- Substitution:
- Assist in other sections of UP Print when need;
- Complete work tasks relevant to work, and as requested by manager;
- Carry out additional duties or responsibilities, which fall reasonably within the scope of the job description, or in accordance with operational requirements.
- Grade 12 certificate;
- Two years experience in operation of printing and copier machines;
- Two years experience of office routine and organisation.
- Knowledge:
- Paper and cardboard;
- Ink impositions;
- Print cost estimation;
- Impositioning;
- Basic administration;
- Technical competencies:
- Computer literacy;
- Troubleshooting and problem solving;
- Operation of digital printing equipment, including the ancillary equipment;
- General technical competency;
- Behavioural competencies:
- Interpersonal skills;
- Self-control and motivation;
- Observant;
- Good communication and negotiation skills;
- Conflict handling skills;
- Ability to work alone;
- Well-developed organisational skills;
- Accuracy in administration and quality control;
- Physical mobility.
- Grade 12 and supervisory course/CRM (Customer Relationship Management);
- Five years experience in printing industry, i.e. book layout and composition;
- Completion of machine operators and/or copier operators course;
- Administration course.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbents level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
