To be accountable for monitoring, analyzing, interpreting and ensuring compliance with various Bank policies; To develop and implement a Risk Strategy for adoption by the Business Units EXCO / Risk and Compliance Committee; To provide advice with reference to risk related issues, both in terms of internal policies and legislation; To assist in the ongoing management of relevant Basel II requirements.

- Maintain optimum efficiencies regarding staff numbers and associated resources by setting budget requirements in accordance with the Business plan and monitor compliance.
- Establish, align and manage target and budget goals whilst ensuring effective control of costs for a range of functional areas to increase cost efficiency.
- Enable Business Unit service delivery through implementing systems and processes to improve service and implement quality systems and metrics for measuring service levels and satisfaction.
- Consult to business areas around process and operational risk procedure requirements and deliver initiatives in accordance with business requirements and agreed timelines and ensure that the team delivers against the agreed process framework (e.g. processes are mapped in relevant tools) and ensure that all deliverables (processes, specifications and procedures) have gone through an internal QA process.
- Comply with governance in terms of legislative and audit requirements.
- Implement business performance and risk management frameworks and relevant risk methodologies to reduce operational losses.
- Manage process and operational risk on a day to day basis which includes monitoring and reporting. This should include measures and procedures for: - understanding key processes, risk identification, risk analysis and assessment responding to risks identified and assessed adequate information and communication and monitoring of risk management activities
- Ensure that necessary action is implemented to reduce the operational risk to an acceptable level.
- Monthly reporting and monitoring of Operational Key Metrics with Operational Key Measure being agreed according to needs.
- Provide qualitative risk status reporting with accurate and reliable business intelligence (information) together with analyzing trends and data including risk losses so to identify and implement risk management initiatives and compile risk mitigation plans in order to proactively action identified risks.
- Plan and manage performance, skills development, employment equity, talent and culture of team in order to improve innovation and achieve efficiencies.
- Manage personal development to increase own skills and competencies.
- In accordance with National Credit Act (NCA) candidates applying for this role will require a credit record check.
- Advanced MS Excel skills/experience - especially with pivot tables.
- Advanced data analytics and data visualisation experience, building queries and reports/dashboards using MS SQL and PowerBI
- Experience using data science tools, such as Python, would be advantageous

- Minimum requirement of a B Comm or Diploma in Risk Management or equivalent financial qualification
- Minimum 7 years banking experience with relevant risk and/or process management experience.
