The Role
The incumbent will be tasked streamlining manufacturing operations through optimizing their sourcing, purchasing and supply chain processes to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement of goods and services while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
The Responsibilities
- Foster and manage vendor relationships, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of materials.
- Use industry insights and purchasing power to secure favorable pricing and terms.
- Determine and uphold suitable minimum and maximum stock levels to enhance inventory turnover.
- Spearhead sourcing strategy development, contracting, stakeholder management, initiative execution, and category management.
- Oversee the alignment of production and raw material planning with production timetables and demand.
- Construct, negotiate, and administer vendor contracts to obtain the best terms.
- Refine procurement procedures from sourcing to delivery, guaranteeing an unbroken supply chain.
- Supervise procurement budgets and gauge operational effectiveness.
- Adjust national buffers, manage buffer reductions, and assure effective stock control.
- Coordinate with internal teams, ensuring clarity and alignment on procurement initiatives.
- Evaluate and mitigate risks related to supply contracts and agreements.
- Leverage Syspro for planning, buying, and inventory oversight.
The Requirements
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in a similar role
- Solid experience in the manufacturing sector, specifically in procuring raw materials,
- Comprehensive background in procurement processes & procedures, demand planning based on forecast production, and inventory management,
- Ability to understand technical specifications of raw materials and components.
- Experience with Syspro in a production environment.
- Certification in Purchasing & Supply Management or a related discipline.
