The Procurement Officer in Cape Town will be a key independent role focused on managing all aspects of procurement for the Cape Town branch. This position offers an exciting opportunity for career growth, especially with an increasing number of Cape Town-based companies coming on board. The successful candidate will work closely with both local vendors and the Johannesburg headquarters to ensure the seamless operation of procurement activities, vendor management, and effective communication between Operations and Procurement.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage the procurement process for the Cape Town branch, converting authorized requisitions to orders and ensuring efficient workflow between Operations and Procurement.
- Facilitate daily communication and formal meetings with vendors, maintaining formal records of interactions and action points.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with local Cape Town vendors while adhering to overarching vendor management policies set by the Senior Contract Manager.
- Ensure quality control, timely deliveries, and compliance with HACCP requirements where applicable.
- Manage invoicing and resolve queries related to pricing and quantities on a daily basis.
- Act as the first line of support for procurement-related matters in Cape Town, including troubleshooting and emergency stock management.
- Monitor and report on market trends, vendor performance, and compliance issues.
- Support the implementation of alternative product solutions and manage inflation impacts with strategic action plans.
- Maintain and update the Cape Town database, ensuring accurate management of procurement data.
- Provide system support to Cape Town users and activate the Disaster Recovery Plan as needed.
- Proven experience in procurement or a similar role, with a strong focus on vendor management and operational efficiency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining strong relationships with vendors and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Familiarity with HACCP requirements and food safety management.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in procurement software and database management.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
