Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of the position is to create and produce research outputs (peer-reviewed articles, ' 'master's dissertations and PhD theses, conference papers and peer-reviewed chapters/books) through your research efforts and the efforts of ' 'master's and PhD students by using the best available research methods and techniques in an ethical way to contribute to a well-functioning research entity and competent students and staff members. The incumbent will apply for external funding for research projects and play a vital role in providing expertise (e.g., via workshops, lectures, and consultation both online and in person) and research-related support to other members of the entity in multidisciplinary research projects across the three campuses of the NWU linked to the research entity.
Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research
- Apply for funding in (multidisciplinary) research projects.
- Conducted research and published findings in respected nationaland international journals (IBSS/Scopus/ISI).
- Supervise ' 'master's and PhD students.
- Initiate and maintain national and international research networks.
- Participate in the evaluation of ethics and research proposals.
- Ensure effective research administration.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the Unit where appropriate.
- Developed, registered, coordinated, and presented Short Learning Programmes (SLPs).
- At the research ' 'director's discretion, assist specific schools where the incumbent has the knowledge and expertise with a post-graduate module where requested.
- Assist the research director (or entity colleagues) and/or take proactive actions to develop entity members.
- Arrange and present workshops on research methodology and base the workshop on their expertise for various targeted groups, based on current developments within their field.
- To stay up-to-date with new developments in research methodology and the related field.
- Serve on related research/ethics/integrity/management committees as directed by the research director.
- Work with related schools to promote inclusion and capability, where possible.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A PhD in Industrial Psychology, Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, Statistics (NQF 10)
- A minimum of 5 'years' experience in research and the administration processes.
- A minimum of 5 'years' lecturing experience.
- Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
- An NRF-rating for Professor level.
- A minimum of 2 'years' research entity-related administration experience.
- Knowledge and experience related to both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
- Expert knowledge in a specific field of the Research Entity.
- Demonstrable experience in the supervision of ' 'master's students and PhD students.
- At least 10 peer-reviewed accredited publications in a diversity of journals, with some as first author in Q1-ranked journals (SciMago) and presented 5 international conference papers at reputable conferences in their field.
- Demonstrable computer literacy and competence in the use of software programs for qualitative/quantitative analyses (e.g., JASP, SPSS, MPLUS, R, AMOS, ATLAS.ti)
- Demonstrable research productivity.
- Knowledge and experience in/ research administration
- Demonstrable presentation skills (for conferences, workshops and lecturing), networking skills (national and international levels), analytical skills, skills to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, client and student orientation, and communication skills.
- Experience or the demonstrable ability to successfully apply/obtain for research funding.
- An output and quality orientation.
- Flexibility and conflict management to work with diverse groups.

- Development of self/others.
- Continuous learner.
