Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Provide teaching and learning services as well as a research function.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning
  • Teaching assigned classes according to the NWU teaching and learning strategies, ensuring required throughput and achieving student-lecturer evaluations of above 83%.
Research
  • Research outputs as to be discussed with Programme Leader and Deputy Director.
Community Engagement
  • Actively contribute to community engagement projects as part of the School of Accounting Sciences.
Minimum Requirements
  • An LLD (Law) or PhD (Forensic accountancy or equivalent) degree (NQF 10).
  • 5 years tertiary academic experience in criminal law, criminal procedure and/or law of evidence.
  • 5 years practical experience as an attorney/advocate OR as a forensic investigator with full ICFP membership.
  • A proven research track record with publications in accredited journals as required at the level of Professor at the North-West University.
RECOMMENDATIONS
  • Postgraduate supervision experience in the field of forensic accountancy.
  • International conference contributions.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
  • A working knowledge of essential competencies required in the field of forensic accountancy.
  • Knowledge of working with students, handling large classes, setting of assessments.
  • Experience with the process of research and an eagerness to conduct research.
  • Interest in community service.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
  • Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU.
