Job Purpose
To provide financial reports for the region to the CFO, Global Finance Department, company management, and external partners in financial reporting, accounting and tax matters. The support is achieved through accurate group financial accounting and reporting, strong technical skills, development of financial reporting models and ensuring the financial integrity of the statutory accounting records/group management accounts.
Ensure that all group companies comply with tax rules and regulations (Income tax, Value-added tax and Transfer Pricing). Project manage various accounting implementations, compliance tracking etc. as the need arises.
Key Accountabilities:
1.Monitor developments of the South African Income Tax and VAT Act to ensure Corporate Tax compliance for the group.
- Prepare quarterly income tax calculations for entities within the group
- Assist external consultants in preparation of annual tax returns
- Assists in resolving all tax related queries, by engaging with SARS and external advisors
- Keeps abreast of any tax updates and application on the group
- Resolve complex accounting issues and assist other personnel in resolving financial issues
- Review general ledger on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of posting
- Authorizes expenditure within LOA
- Prepare information/ slides for monthly governance and control review meetings
- Provide financial information to external business partners (banks, insurance broker, auditors etc.)
- Assists with monthly and annual closing of accounting records ensuring all month end journals, provisions and accruals are accurately posted
- Intercompany reconciliations
- Assist with quarterly audit reviews and annual financial statement audit
- Assist to develop standard operating procedures relating to the accounting/ finance operations.
- Assist in complex IFRS accounting matters by conducting research and training sessions for the accountants across the group.
- Assist in tracking actions by financial services teams regarding clearing of trade receivables and payables aging
- Reconciliations of third party information to company accounting records
- Assist in preparation of quarterly reporting packs and addressing any queries raised by Global.
- Develop financial and operational reports for company management and Global
- Responsible for the preparation of subsidiary statutory financial statements
- Monitor the accounting & reporting developments in terms of IFRS and ensure that the group is applying all IFRS principles consistently.
- Assist with implementations of internal audit recommendations, overall tracking of internal audit engagements
- Assist with integration of acquired entities into accounting system, ensuring processes are aligned to that of group- partner with SAP experts and business to align systems
- Assist with any data analysis based on managements request
- SAICA Qualified Chartered Accountant
- SAIPA Qualified Professional Accountant
- For CA: Newly qualified or 1-2 years post article experience
- For PA: Minimum 2-3 years experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of proficiency with MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Technically very strong in IFRS and Tax
- SAP experience advantageous
