Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager

Our domestic construction client, based in Somerset West, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager, on a full-time with flexibility, mostly in-office basis. This QS role is central to the decision-making process throughout the development of a project, from initial inception to final completion. This role reports to the Director and participates in maximising project margin, adding value to the construction process by pro-active involvement in procurement, cost management and reporting. The Quantity Surveyor drives best value from suppliers and subcontractors. Carries out monthly financial reviews on projects and forecasts final values for costs, sales, and margins. Maximise value of monthly applications and measurement and submission of contact variations. Timely submission and negotiations of final accounts to the client and subcontractors.

Tasks And Responsibilities, But Not Limited To
  • Present a cost estimate which may be used to generate a quotation ready for presentation to potential clients
  • Present final quotation based on final plans to be used in the contract
  • Oversee the setting up of a construction contract between the company and client
  • Generate invoices based on the specifications within the contract and for all variation orders
  • Keep record of invoicing and generate a statement with each invoice for the client
  • Drafting Bills of Quantities based on the architectural plan for each client
  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities if required
  • Evaluate tenders from sub-contractors and, where appropriate negotiate
  • Evaluate work completed by sub-contractors and action payments
  • Ordering and negotiation best prices of materials required for the construction of each project and the delivery of such materials timeously
  • Control all stages of projects within predetermined budget and expenditure
  • Monitor and keep track of project progress and be responsible for the measurement and valuation of variations in the work during the contract, for agreement of interim payments and the final account
  • Work as part of the team to ensure that the requirements of the client are delivered
  • Conduct monthly valuation of work in progress, including forecasting of final cost
  • Consulting with clients and subcontractors
  • Keeping track of material and ordering more when required
  • Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets
  • Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with clients
  • Travelling from the office to various sites as required with company transport
Requirements
  • QS domestic construction experience
  • QS qualifications
  • Project Management experience/ qualifications
  • Proficient in Advanced Excel - essential
