We have a full-time, contract position/s available for a project supervisor with technical skills.
Positions for candidates range from a basic assistant-type candidate to advanced candidates that have more to offer the company. T
Job responsibilities:
- Coordinating and supervising staff on sites
- Quantifying materials and costs
- Coordinating orders for materials
- Keeping track of deliveries and consumption of materials
- Occasional deliveries / collections
- Ensuring quality control
- Occasionally liaising with clients
- Must be hands-on:Occasionally will be required to get involved in installations and grab a broom
- General assistant responsibilities
- The possibility exists to start managing teams.
- There will be QS (quantity surveying) and quote training.
- The candidate will then assist in costing and quoting jobs.
- Sales commission: once the candidate is competent in costing and quoting and has good understanding of processes, there exists opportunity to enter a sales position.
- Project management: once the candidate is competent there exists the opportunity to be promoted to a project manager.
- Hours: This is the construction industry and hours are variable as the industry demands. "Normal" working hours are 8:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday However, construction hours are typically 7:00 - 17:30 and often include Saturdays. 90% of the time, the job will require "normal" working hours however, when necessary, it may require the candidate to be available during typical construction hours.
- In the construction industry there are various circumstances that occasionally require us to work early, late, or over weekends or maybe a public holiday. These are infrequent occasions and can be managed to some extent but there must however be no confusion or debate that when circumstances dictate, the candidate is to be available. It is however unlikely that the candidate might work more than 12 Saturdays in a a year.
Job requirements:
- The ideal candidate would have construction experience and ideally, their own hands-on skills (perhaps carpentry or other)
- An understanding of plans is preferable.
- License and own vehicle is essential. Bakkie or similar is preferable.
- PC literate (excel and outlook)
- Must be of sober habits.
- No drug or dishonest habits.
- Must be trustworthy, reliable, and have good ethical values.
- Remuneration: Your remuneration will be determined on the level of your skills and potential contribution to the company. R5000 from basic driver/assistant/coordinator to R15000 plus commission for a more advanced candidate. Commission could be R50k per month or more for an advanced candidate.
